Taken with oral semaglutide tablets, levothyroxine exposure goes up by about a third rather than down. This is the opposite of the widely repeated claim that these medicines block thyroid hormone absorption. The effect is documented for the swallowed tablet forms of semaglutide, whose formulation changes conditions in the stomach; the injected forms carry no levothyroxine interaction on their labels at all. Over time, more thyroid hormone reaching the blood than intended can push levels higher than the dose was set for.
